So just trying things out a little differently… I’m thumbtapping this via mobile app via smartphone/keypad. It’s a little tedious but with a bluetooth keyboard… OMG, geeking out at the possiblities! (weird geek chortles heard)

twitter.pngSo, I tried using my themes Widget section but it just didn’t work right. Grr, so rather than kiss the time away. I added a basic jscript to the sidebar, so I can truly appreciate the insanity that’s twitter! Now I need to put Twitteroo in place and I can update here at the desktop too! Wow! Yeah! What am I doing now? It’s a little sick, actually…

Waiting for the next DVD’s to come…

WordPress 2.3.1 Update

wp-wpicI did it! I updated WordPress without wanting to kill myself. The thing that I learned though is FatCow (my hosting site) won’t let me directly upload gzip files directly to my site and it appears that their ZIP utility doesn’t seem to decompress the package into the WordPress directory. No biggie, 7 minutes w/FireFTP from a decompressed package on my desktop and… Voila! New, more stable WordPress (fingers crossed). And in playing with WordPress, I thought I’d change up the design to something a little more regal, Royale 1.0. Très Chic!

Ugly Betty

UgBetty1Anyhow, while charting out my day with FreeMind, a mind-mapping tool, that geeks who worship Getting Things Done play with, I watched Ugly Betty and I need to tell everyone, “WATCH THE SHOW! It will make you smile, laugh, cry and somehow make your day a little brighter!” Tanner Stransky – EW.com said it very well, I love Marc and Amanda’s vile antics and cuts, but I admire that the writers appear not to be throwing away an opportunity to examine more critically the hysterical obsession gay men have with their bodies and their image. It will be awesome to see what they do with budding romance between a paunchy photographer like Cliff and an extremely superficial fashion assistant like Marc. I also want to shout props to the writers for being so deft at balancing all the characters. I just keep thinking, “Wow, what a great crew!”

Lost

Lost-CharleySo, BF & I have a new obsession. It was the sort of thing where I had not returned movies to Blockbuster.com in forever, finally did, needed to do ironing and then, “So, what’s with Lost?”, the ever-skeptical BF asks. “Um, friends liked it, recommended it and I have work to do…” And he didn’t leave and now we keep watching and now we have something like 60-some-odd episodes to go! Well, I’ll have more to say, but I’m going to wait to finish with Season 1 to critique.

So, what have I gotten done today?

  • Migrated blog to WordPress.
  • Installed a few themes.
  • Set up 2 flickr accounts (private, public).
  • Set up a twitter account.
  • Uploaded the vacation pics.
  • Installed my new HP C5180 all-in-one scanner/printer/copier/vibrator.
  • Edited photos, sorted out rejects. (Oh, sister-in-law, never wear that see-through top again!)
  • Gave bf a smashing pic of us on HP sample high-gloss paper.
  • Ate very little.
  • Hacked up mucus a bit. (All I got for my vacation was a sinus infection.)
  • Stayed toasty in my study.
  • Yesterday, I made tremendous progress on The Noonday Demon (3 chapters to go).

Things that I’m toying with but I shouldn’t let impede writing:

  • Weather widget.
  • Tag cloud widget for my entries’ tags.
  • Tag cloud widget for my delicious bmarks.
  • Add latest comments section.
  • Create Madame R login so she doesn’t have to register as a user since comment spam is annoying.
  • Add the most dearest to the blogroll.
  • Set up a separate blog for the workout?

Off to make some food since I was bad about eating. Ta.

Sorry, sorry, I can’t help myself. I’ve been thinking the last couple weeks of moving to WordPress (my old nemesis had done it a year ago, but I’ve always considered him a himbo when it comes to technology). Then, my provider offered it for free. Then, there were complications with installing WordPress. But my provider has been very responsive (the one time I called them to deal with the MovableType installation) and got it fixed by giving me another database to start fresh from. So, I migrated the old blog to WordPress (Yes, it does take five minutes once your database is functional). But, shortly after updating the About page I starting getting a slew of Internal Error Server 500 messages whenever I went to the site. Grrr. So, I upgraded to 2.1.1 which seems to be working fine. I think.

So, pardon the dust, I’ll be updating the theme soon. And we’ll be off to chronicling the further adventures in Maui…
